Meet The Chef
At Family Thais Asian Bistro, everything begins in the kitchen—and at the heart of that kitchen is Chef Kangsadal "Jab" Srirakij. Her culinary journey started in a small Thai village, learning traditional techniques from her grandmother. Those early lessons were strengthened by training in a Pattaya hotel, refined at a culinary academy in Bangkok, and elevated further with classic French influence. The result is a chef whose food carries deep heritage, technical skill, and heartfelt creativity in every dish.
The story of Family Thais is also a love story. In 2002, while dining at Toys Café, chef and restaurateur Tony Street spotted Jab cooking and told his companion, "See that girl cooking? I'm going to marry her one day." Four months later, he did. When Toys Café eventually closed, Jab felt the loss deeply, and for years the couple searched for the right place to build something of their own—somewhere their talents could grow side by side. Fifteen years later, that dream became Family Thais Asian Bistro.
Chef Jab leads the culinary team with Tony, blending their diverse backgrounds and shared passion. Their family is woven into every part of the restaurant: from the in-laws who bring their own Thai culinary experience, to their sons Sammye and Jesse, who grew up in the restaurant world and now contribute to the concept. Even long-time colleague Arturo Lamas—Tony's chef partner of more than 27 years—has become part of the family in every way that matters.
Family isn't just our name; it's our identity. And at the center of that family is our chef.
