Pad Thai Leftovers?
How to Make Pad Thai Leftovers Taste Restaurant-Fresh
If you’re a fan of Thai cuisine, then you already know that pad thai leftovers are always something to look forward to.
While many items on our menu are customer favorites, nothing quite beats the urge to order Pad Thai. At Family Thais, we pride ourselves in giving our guests an authentic Thai experience, whether they eat in our restaurant, take the food to-go, or save it for another day.
So, if you’ve ordered Pad Thai from us recently and know you’ll be eating it the next day, here are some of our chef’s tips for reheating our food to perfection.
Storing Pad Thai Leftovers
First, let's talk storage. To ensure your Thai food reheats well, it's essential to store it properly in the first place. Even if your food comes home in a takeout box, always transfer it over into an airtight container.
In order to keep your Pad Thai fresh and contaminant-free, always store it in the fridge or freezer.
Remember, even properly stored leftovers have a shelf-life. Pad Thai can typically last for three days in the fridge and can stay safe in the freezer for up to three months.
Reheating Thai Food
Your stomach is grumbling, and right about now the taste of peanut sauce and rice noodles sounds like it’ll hit the spot! If you’ve stored your Thai in the fridge, take it out and follow the suggestions below.
However, if you used a freezer for storage, defrost the food before reheating. This ensures your food heats completely through and thoroughly satisfies your taste buds.
Check Your Sauce!
If your Thai food came with a side of sauce you were saving or had the sauce cooked into it, the chances are, the sauce thickened up in the cooler. For a smooth consistency that replicates the texture the food came with, adding a tablespoon or two of water to the dish can freshen up your leftovers.
Remember, the longer you wait to eat sauced up Pad Thai, the more you risk heating up a soggy, unappealing dish.
Microwaving is Quick and Easy
One of the most convenient ways to reheat Pad Thai is in the microwave. After transferring your food into a microwave-safe container or plate, add your tablespoon of water to prevent drying the noodles out, and stick it into the microwave for a minute at a time.
After each minute, check on your food, stir it up, and reheat it again until you’ve reached your desired temperature.
For optimal flavoring, top off your leftovers with fresh lime juice.
Pull Out Your Wok
At our Dallas Thai restaurant, we utilize woks on the daily! So, it only makes sense to pull out your own (or even a frying pan) to recreate the magic we’ve served at our counter.
If you’re using the stove to reheat your Pad Thai, coat your wok or pan in two tablespoons of oil (sesame seed brings out a nice taste). Once you’ve heated your oiled pan on medium-high heat, add your noodles (sans the extra water).
Once your noodles have had a minute to start reheating, stir them up and slowly add soy sauce to the mix in order to loosen up your thick noodles and give your food additional flavor.
Stir and cook your noodles until they’re completely reheated, and it’s time to eat!
Air-Fried Thai, Anyone?
The air-fryer is the latest kitchen craze, and you can bet Pad Thai will heat well in your basket. In our opinion, this is even easier and more satisfying than the microwave.
Simply grab a healthy amount of tin foil and create a makeshift bowl. Place your Pad Thai in the bowl and sprinkle two tablespoons of water over the food. Then, heat the noodles at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes, and we guarantee you'll love the results.
